Power Quality Services

A lot depends on the quality of your own electricity network, whether it is public or industrial systems that are involved.

That is why the saying “trust is good, control is better” also applies to electricity networks – e.g. a professional network analysis – so that technical measures can be undertaken should the need arise. Our standard and customised services for everything involving the transmission and distribution of electricity and its optimum voltage most certainly make us a suitable partner. We provide everything from one single source. A service that guarantees a consistent flow of information and optimum processing of each and every project. By measuring the relevant parameters we can guarantee that the system has all the characteristics specified by the customer. The extensive specialist experience gained from the many systems already installed enables us to make provision for all influencing variables on the system design right from the word go.

PQM PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING SERVICES:

  • Network analyses (EN50160 - EN6100-2-4)
  • Power measurements
  • Harmonics measurement
  • Flicker measurements
  • Network studies and calculations
  • Planning of compensation and filter circuit systems
  • Consultations
  • Supervision
  • Installation
  • Delivery of complete and ready-to-go systems
  • Commissioning
  • Testing and maintenance of compensation systems
  • Thermography

In addition to the theory of reactive power and harmonics we impart a multitude of practically-relevant knowledge in seminars as well, also in-house on your own premises.

ANALYSIS AND PREVENTION

Our network analysis applies to existing systems, failures or planned expansions. As a rule such an analysis comprises the following phases:

  • Telephone consultation (fact finding, task definition)
  • On-site appraisal, measurements (survey of network and consumer structure - from the incoming feed of the power provider to the consumer level, measurement of the network load at significant points)
  • Evaluation of the measured results (simulation/verification with numerical network calculation program, elaboration of optimization measures, report with recommended solutions)
  • Manufacture and delivery of compensation/filter circuit systems (documentation, if required installation services, if required supervision)
  • Commissioning of the systems (performance and functional conformity measurements, instruction and training of operating personnel, report)
  • Maintenance or adjustment of systems (scheduled maintenance of customer systems, if required repair work, if required expansion)

NETWORK STUDIES AND CALCULATIONS

Our network studies involve the planning or new construction of systems. As a rule they comprise the following phases:

  • Submission of technical documentation/planning data (survey of the planned network and consumer structure, as far as possible from the incoming feed of the power provider to the consumer level)
  • Evaluation of the technical data (simulation of the network load with numerical network calculation program, elaboration of optimisation measures, report with recommended solutions)
  • Calculation of the network and consumer harmonics

NETWORK ANALYSIS

NETWORK ANALYSIS SYSTEMS

  • Transient recorder (continuous training)
  • Sequence of events recorder/event measurement (significant event-triggered data volumes)
  • Measurement systems for long-term measurement (1 day to 2 weeks)
  • Realtime monitoring (continuous measurement, significant data volumes)

RESULTS

  • Powers (P, Q, D, S, cos φ, l)
  • Harmonics in current and voltage up to the 50th.
  • Intermediary harmonics (TF)
  • Flicker
  • Current and voltage characteristics, e.g. during switching or special load cycles (roller mills, conveyor machines etc), down to a few minutes

STANDARD MEASURING SYSTEMS

Results

  • Powers (P, Q, D, S, cos φ, l)
  • Harmonics in current and voltage up to the 50th.
  • Flicker
  • Statistical measurements from one day up to 2 weeks with recording in 1 to 10-minute rasters

SUMMARY

Measurements of reactions on the system are necessary for:

  • Network compatibility with regard to binding standards (IEC, EN, nat. standards)
  • Determination of influencing variables from the network for the dimensioning of compensation/filer circuits systems
  • Support with commissioning, verification of conformity of the installed systems or network measures
  • Continuous monitoring of the voltage quality after installation of the compensation/filter circuit systems or of systems with high-performance harmonic and flicker originators
